This was given to me from Vanessa Shirey at the First Nations Resource Centre in Terrace, BC. The package consisted of 10 months (sequential with the school year), each month relaying new information and visuals. The display lays out the significance of each month from Tsimshian oral histories and practices, and even shows examples in both Sm’algyax and Nisga’a. This is a gift that I will always cherish.

During the Prince George Intensive (July 2022) our class had the privilege of spending some time with Clayton Gauthier, a talented artist and storyteller. He shared many pieces of his own work, taking the time to explain the significance and meaning behind each piece he creates. His calm demeanor and peaceful outlook on life was a refreshing opportunity for us as teacher candidates to take a moment to breathe and simply enjoy the knowledge he shared.

“Datsan Cho” – Raven, Clayton Gauthier Workshop, UNBC PG, July 15/22

We also were fortunate enough to participate in a Mathematics workshop with Bonnie Fuller at the UNBC Prince George Campus (July 2022). She taught us many cost-efficient ways to create important math tools for elementary learners, such as clocks for practicing telling time, and rekenreks for counting and other problems.
